Assistant Diaries Day2

day of the photoshoot... i was excited as hell! alarm clock went off at 6:45, i snoozed of course. after a quick coffee fix i was already on the way to the metro. came early (hate being late and hate it even more when others are late) so i had a nice breakfast in the park. still came to the office too early, but we and our 100 kilos of wardrobe were quickly on the way to our location. taxi ride was quite long so i had the rare opportunity to enjoy the city from a car... paris was beautiful in the morning light and i knew it would be a beautiful day.
too bad i spent it all inside. we were shooting in a moroccan house with arabic styled looks and tunisian model. my job was to set the wardrobe, steam the clothes and basically guard the jewelry while others were on set. that means basicaly all day. tought i would get to see more action and observe how the pro's do it. instead i had a million emails to write and even more phone calls to make. i don't know if i ever spent that much time on my phone and everyone that knows me would say that i'm "playing" with my phone all the time.
anyway... more than being an assistant stylist i was a secretary, but i don't mind, i still learned a lot today.
one thing was very suprising to me though... i'm used to being really careful with the clothes and specialy the accessories and shoes since in slovenia u have to return them in a perfect condition so they can go back to the store. here most of the pieces come from showrooms and are only used for photoshootes. lipstick stains, broken zippers, frayed shoes, torn clothes,... some things really look awful. it's kinda suprising how you can not see that on any of the photos... but i guess that's what a good stylist does, he has to hide mistakes like that and make clothes look beautiful. my boss is great at that and i really adored all the stylings she did today. it's amazing how she transformed a totally minimalistic look from celine into arabic styling with just a few scarves and a necklace. amazing! can't wait to see the photos. we also shoot a video, i got to see a bit of the shooting and it looked gorgeous! uf... i'm gonna ran out of superlatives.
the whole shoot took 10 hours for just 4 looks. that was kinda a shocker too. but everyone really took their time and the work rhythm was really chilled out, relaxed and easy. quite opposite from our usual shootings. and we got the coolest snacks ever! that almost never happens in slovenia, not at fashion shoots at least. after we were done, we still needed to plan our tomorrow's schedule. it's gonna be a busy day: returning stuff and taking care of delivery, making sure everyone will send us right pieces for the next shoot and already receiving and preparing wardrobe for it.

Assistant Diaries Day1

not so long ago i was going through the pages of assistant diaries just couse it's so fun to read how some of the girls are struggling or whining about their long working hours etc. well, now i can officialy say it's a fucking awesome job and if i get the chance to do it more than just for two shoots i'll be the happiest person alive. for starters: it's just so great to be back in the game. i mean, partying can only last for so long... i missed the fashion, the clothes and the energy on set. therefore my excitement about tomorrow's photoshoot is of the roof!!!
i was kinda nervous about the job (but who isn't on their first day?) just because this kind of job requires lots of contacts and running around the city which i have jet to discover. but one thing made me happy for sure, it doesn't require me speaking french. what a relief.
ok, so about my first day.... it started unusually early, with coffee and tons of emails. i had everything under control and i still had lots of time to prepare for the meeting with my new boss when i got an email that she won't be able to do a pull-out at stella mccartney's showroom so i have to go there asap. i packed up my laptop and ran to the metro. selecting clothes for the photoshoot was like a dream shopping experience, i loved it. would have stayed there longer but i had to meet the boss. she's awesome btw! and yeah... it may not seem like a big deal but trusting an assistant to do a pull on their first day of work that's fucking huge! just so you know...
work in the office was pretty calm, i was receiving packages for tomorrows shoot, confirming orders and nagging people on the phone. somewhere in between all that we even had lunch with super organic salads wich was just what i needed. we had some drama with the packages (there's always drama with the packages), but found everything at the end so that was cool. i made a quick pick up for another shoot and it was packing time. it's kinda funny watching all that chanel, jil sander and celine being stuffed into suitcases.
and tomorrow... photoshoot time, yay!!

p.s. i'm exhausted!

follow the assistant diaries on twitter and instagram... facebook is kinda starting to get lame :)

Paris to Amsterdam

almost one month has passed, can't believe it... except looking for a job my days mostly consist of chilling out, visiting the beach and meeting new people. yesterday i actualy had a job interview at theyskens theory wich was the fastest interview in my life. once we established i don't speak french, i was out the door. guess they didn't read the part of my cv where it says i just started learning the language. the scene in their office reminded me of people's revolution with kelly cutrone on board. all the girls working there looked like they haven't seen the light of the day since they started their jobs there.
so, still looking! at the moment i'm not feeling as well, paris finally got to me. it might have something to do with not so healthy diet and lack of sleep. i meet some really awesome people trough couch surfing and we've been hangin out a lot. we're actually taking a trip together this weekend... final destination: amsterdam! we're leaving today and coming back on monday, so no posts till then, sorry!

have an awesome weekend everyone!

Beachin in Paris

so summer finally decided to pay us a visit here in paris, yay! it's been quite hot today and it's getting even hotter tomorrow. i can finally wear shorts and try to find some flip flops or sandals at the sales (or am i a bit delusional about that?) but not the best time to break my sunnies... today i've been to one of most beautiful parks here in paris parc des buttes chaumont with a friend i meet here and we were quite suprised about the amount of people sunbathing just in their undies. not bathing suits, underwear. is that how french do it? anyways... i'll give my swimsuit a test drive this weekend when the banks of seine are transformed into a sandy beach. yeah... u heard me right, i'll be beaching in the middle of paris. oh, i love this city!
i was actually trying to find some nice swimsuits for this post but i gave up after going trough asos, there was just nothing that caught my eye, not for the right reasons at least. so many of them where wrong on so many levels, i won't even try to go there (it's a story for a whole new post). so for today i'll just show you my essentials for going around the city and from this weekend forward to the beach...

map i still need to check out wich metros do i need to take from time to time navigo card easy access to the metro sunglasses broken, need new ones wallet empty most of the time- paris is not cheap business cards never know who you meet cigarettes paris makes me smoke - i know it's bad water i take it everywhere i go, i even flattened the bottle to carry it more easy lip gloss the only cosmetic product i always carry with me iphone it's not on the pic but is my most important essential

...well i'm off to a photoshoot now, so stay tuned for an outfit post!
